Green Depression Glass Candelabra
« on: September 22, 2012, 03:42:27 pm »
Still going through stuff. . . I love this candelabra!  Not uranium glass (I am learning  ;D).

Any ideas on time period, pattern, etc?  The decoration at the base reminds me of an pineapple.

I thought it was beautiful, but wasn't the exact pattern in my books. I can't wait to see what you find.

Doesn`t look like depression glass !!  Almost think 70`s !! Wrong color !!  Not that its not a nice piece,, it is !! But there were a lot of those triple candelabra late 60`s and 70`s !! I have a triple drip glass from that time  !!

OK I have 2 questions I know these 2 questions are going to sound strange but , do they have a strong vinegar-like odor? rub your fingers on your candle sticks bases( the smooth part) does the glass feel slick or greasy??  Many pieces of Dep glass have been reproduced since the 1970s. Each piece has to be evaluated on a piece by piece basis, No one test can tell all true Dep glass across the board. Color alone is not a test of age as colors changed with each and every glass batch! I do know if this piece is the real deal or not but want to see how you answer my questions  :)

Wendy,, remember back in the late 70`s when all those rare and hard to find pieces of "depression glass" began showing up on the market ??  Thats the feeling I get from this candelabra !!   May not be but sure get that gut feeling about it !!

It is the only match. There's "Mount Vernon", but the base is more oval than round.

Your right mart. The patterns I mentioned doesn't really come in that color, but it does match the "Plantation" pattern.

In the plantation pattern, is the the object above the base a stylized pineapple?
