Wow where do you put the bulbs?  Are there markings of any kind? how did you determine the date 1909?, electricity was still a bit rare in 1909.  Just makes me curious these are some intresting looking items and would really like to know myself too  ;D.

Sorry didn't see your other post first.  Appears brass to me, and when I went to look up parchment lamps all I got was a variety of lamp shades, tried to take it into photoshop for a better view but still don't see where the bulbs go unless it is in the center of the shaft.  Sorry I'm a bit ignorant sometimes but like to learn about this stuff.  Maybe DB or KC can rescue us from our current brain pain  :o

I have found little about these lamps, hopfully the others will, they are a sharp bunch here.  I still have a bit of a problem with the date 1909, not that I have any expertise in this area, but the early electric cords look thick and wrapped in cloth material if I can remember what the cords look like, I just have a pic in my head.  I can not tell too much from the photo.  I do find it very intresting that you would load the bulb from the bottom, can't be that big of a bulb, again I don't know by my vision of a early bulb would be much too big.  I think I will go surf around and see what the early stuff look like.  However the real experts will be back in the morning I'm sure   ;D

Now I don’t know what you mean by “parchment” and the picture is so dark I can’t see what the globes look like. Anyway, they appear to be what is called Boudoir or Bedroom lamps. Like these pictured here and/or click the link and read about them..
