Antique Questions Forum / Eastlake Chair and Pressback Rocker
« on: September 07, 2019, 02:01:16 pm »
I decided to part with these items that have been in the house for what seems like a LOOOONG time. I put them out last weekend for my Labor Day yard sale (last photo). I still have them. Mayhaps I was asking too much for a lawn sale venue, but my feeling is that the intrinsic value of something is the same whether at an antiques shop or at a garage sale. My price on the Eastlake chair was $100 (an considering I had to pay $125 to have it re-upholstered, I am selling at a loss), and $40 on the rocker. Any opinions?

Antique Questions Forum / Any ideas what this is?
« on: August 15, 2019, 10:50:25 am »
I have no idea what this is (and I have 6 of them), or how old, although I've had them for decades. Probably something my parents brought home in a box lot from an auction and I fished them out. They are made from very light non-magnetic metal, probably aluminum and are all 2" long and 5/8" in diameter and hollow, so none fits inside any other. One end is open and the other has the initials S.S. under a crown. I'd like to know what they are.

Antique Questions Forum / Notgeld Notes and Stamps
« on: July 30, 2019, 02:21:55 pm »
There was a gallon storage bag on the giveaway table at the senior center of what looked like postage stamps, so I though I take it and look through it. It took me last weekend to sort through the bag. Most of the stamps I discarded (they were cancelled Liberty Bells and NFP stamps). I did find some more unusual ones, a block of "Officially Sealed" stickers, some Austrian Notgeld notes from 1920 and some first day cancellation envelopes . Any comments appreciated.

A five gallon with wooden dasher and lid. The dasher is 3 feet 9 inches long. No marks other than the blue 5. No cracks or chips. Market value?

Antique Questions Forum / Antique Drop-Leaf Gate-Leg Table
« on: September 02, 2018, 04:50:58 pm »
What would be a fair market value for this drop-leaf, gate-leg table. It's 28.5" tall, 44" long and the top is 21" wide when folded and just over 60" when opened. Also, what wood is it? And that's not dust on the top, they're scuffs.

Antique Questions Forum / Prices in EAPG
« on: April 09, 2018, 02:48:52 pm »
I have so much EAPG that I put a few pieces out at my estate sale. I didn't sell one piece. Either people aren't interested in EAPG anymore or I'm asking too much. I have $25 on the pitcher and $10 on the bowl. Opinions?

Antique Questions Forum / Art Deco Style Brass Figurine

The solid figurine is on a marble base that measures 5 by 2 inches. The dog is 4.5" tall at the ears. What would be the approximate value?

Antique Questions Forum / Pattern ID on an EAPG Creamer

This one has me stumped. I'd hoped there would be an expert on EAPG that could help me ID this maker and pattern name on this creamer.

Antique Questions Forum / Reverse Painting on Glass

I was actually with my mom when she bought this at a garage sale in the mid-1980s. It's in an ornate gilded frame that measures 30.5 x 26.5" at the outside. Many that come to my sale seem interested in it until I tell them what I am asking for it - $100, which is what she paid for it (which would be around $250 in today's money). Did she over-pay?

Antique Questions Forum / Italian Marble-top Stand
« on: December 13, 2017, 09:00:18 am »
I'm not sure this would qualify as an antique, but my aunt wants to sell this Catco marble-top stand at her garage sale next year. It's good condition and measures 23" tall and the top is 20" diameter. What would be a reasonable price to ask?

Antique Questions Forum / Bulova and LeGant watches
« on: September 22, 2017, 12:57:42 pm »
These belonged to my father's brother and I have now inherited them. I did do some research on the mechanical LeGant hunter's case pocket watch that has a locomotive motif. This brand was a Montgomery Ward "store" brand. LeGant was sold to Seiko in the early 1990's and production eventually ceased. My main concern is that it only runs when tilted so that the left side, where it joins the cover, is down. What would cause that?

The mechanical Bulova works without a problem. I tried to take the back off, but when I try, the bezel and crystal fall off and I didn't want to manipulate it with the crystal off for fear I would inadvertently damage the hands.

I was going to take these to the local jeweler next week to see if he was interested in them. What would be a reasonable price to ask for them?

In a dusty drawer all in a C.C.C. (Civilian Conservation Corps) box (9.25" long, 6.25" wide, 2" deep). The Army items are fairly easy to research, but I wanted to know a ballpark value on the C.C.C. box and Jr. Birdmen of America and Capt. Hawks Sky Patrol lapel pins.

Antique Questions Forum / Tennessee Red Cedar Wardrobe
« on: August 02, 2017, 03:46:56 pm »
This was left in the house my parents bought in 1975. It's in excellent condition. There's some info on the company here:

I was curious about its value.

Antique Questions Forum / Shaving Brush
« on: August 02, 2017, 12:51:03 pm »
I assume that is what this item is. However, I was puzzled by the stubby metal disk handle. Other shaving brushes I've seen pics of had longer handles. Unless it was meant to fit into a longer handle. The overall length is 2 inches. Any comments?

Antique Questions Forum / Old Toaster
« on: July 30, 2017, 01:31:39 pm »
Can anyone give me some info on this old toaster. The only marks I could find are near the bottom on the side and it says either PROTOS or PROTO5. I could not find anything online relating to either in regard to toasters. Curious how old it is.
