Hi, I have this old couch my great grandmother gave me and I have no idea where it came from or when it was made. I'm pretty sure it was reupholstered at least 30 years ago. I've looked for any kind of obvious markings but can't find any.

Hi!
Can you please post a couple of pictures of the carved details on both pieces?

Your sofa and chair are 40`s French Provincial from what I can see !! Might be a little earlier but I don`t think so !! Its a nice set for a formal living area or parlor which is what they were used for !! Things were a little more formal back then !! You can google "40`s French Provincial sofa" and see many different styles on the same theme !! Each mfr had their own variation !!

I agree with Mart on this. I have seen several of these and they all were from the late 30s or 40s. You will see them in old furniture ads.

I agree on the style Mart and frogpatch. But I was curious on the engraving.... some manufacturers used different ones. Looks more like an American made one. Interesting that only 2 cushions on the back are tufted without a wooden indent or full separation. Nice parlor set...

I believe they are American made as well !! Saw a couple yesterday with the same back just different carving with outside cushions tufted !! Due to dial up couldn`t see if they said who the mfr was !!
