Title: Who knows bird decoys?
Post by: KevinB on December 21, 2011, 03:59:23 pm
I have this goose decoy but I haven't been able to locate a good resource for finding the maker or value. Its made of wood and has glass eyes. Its small for a goose so I think it is only a half size decoy. It measures 14" long and 5" wide. Thanks Kevin.

This looks like someones hobby piece !! Not a quality carver/artist !!  Likely from a kit thats the reason its small !!

I believe it was made for decorative purposes only because the bottom is unfinished.

That looks to me like a duck.

Me thinks the head n' neck are too large in proportion to the body for it to be representive of a goose. But the person that carved it could call it whatever he wated to.

But 2 gooses is not enough to be gaggle.

And if they are flying in migration formation some call them "honkers".
