Hello,
I bought this Don Quixote painting from an auction where the people just simply called it the horse painting. It is oil on canvas that was framed or reframed around 25 years ago at a framing shop by where I live. He doesnt recall the painting nor does he have a receipt from his work. He did tell me that the frame today would cost a couple hundred dollars to make. He also told me that the signature looks spanish but it was just a guess. I paid $20 bucks for it from the auction but really they had no clue what it was so trust me I am very happy with it. I don't think its a priceless find but any info on it would be great.

No idea, but I LOVE it! It really enters the dream state of the mad and noble Don Quixote.

For some reason,, it looks familiar !! Can you tell anything from the signature !! Letters or anything ??
-
No not really but when I saw it at first I did get a sense of deja vu so maybe its a replica but I do know its done by hand. Sorry, I can not give you anymore info on it then that.

just a bump to see if anyone new is around.

The framer is filling you full of it if thats what he would charge !! You didn`t say what size it was or what the picture is painted on !! Looks like about a 14X18 or thereabout !!

Its 17 3/4 inches wide and 22 1/2 tall from inside of the frame to inside of the frame. Its oil on canvas and looks better in person then this picture shows.

Can you take a pic of the back making sure to get one corner with the stretcher/key ??

I do remember that a lot of the tourist shops in Mexico are stocked with Quixote artwork. But, whoever did this one had an imagination working overtime.
