Title: Phonograph
Post by: btcomp on February 24, 2012, 05:08:32 PM
This is an old phonograph, missing the piece to play records. Somewhere I have a letter my dad wrote about this and I will have to look for it. But I can't find any identifying company name. I took this home, and the auctioneer agreed that I should find out the company. I may have to call a store I ran across in Ohio about this!

I have never seen a phonograph like that! Way cool! Are those sockets for light bulbs? There's gotta be a name or a marking somewhere on it.

You really need to look that over closely for a name !! On the bottom plate possibly ??  Some of these old and fairly rare types can be pricey !! Is it brass ??? And look everywhere for that part that holds the needle !!

It appears to be a model made by the Fairy Phonograph Lamp Company, (later the Endlessgraph Company), Chicago, Illinois. Originally it would have had a fancy silk shade with a fringe.

You're right rauville! Just search for:  Fairy Phonograph Lamp Company.
There's a good amount of info about them online.

Just checked my Priceminer account and one sold for 1,950.00 on 7/9/11 Ebay and not nearly as nice as this one.

So sorry guys, I didn't know anyone had responded. I didn't realize that I had not set the Email reply and I was wondering why no replies.

You have all made my day. You know I really got busy with my dad's estate this week, and our washer went out, so we went to the house yesterday and got the washer and dryer, so my wife and I now have a working Maytag again. And then the antique stove I showed pictures of SOLD yesterday. I sold it for 120 dollars so was happy, and the person buying it is going to restore and put it in a cottage type rental.

I will go over all your information, and definitely the one site looks like it. I will be back in a couple of hours.
