Title: Mermaid statues with light effects - please help. :)
Post by: heyimjason on July 19, 2012, 01:39:40 pm
I'm fairly new to antiques, but this has got me completely stumped.  I haven't seen anything like these.  I think they're absolutely beautiful.
The only information I could get is that on one of these, the bottom has a sticker that says "K.O.K." which I believe was an old Chinese manufacturer.

The crazy thing is that these still work.  The light illuminates the mermaid (with several different colors - assuming it's from lenses on the inside).  On the other one, the circular part lights up.
I believe the guy said he'd owned these since the 70's, but wasn't sure about the history of them before he got a hold of them.

And the 2nd one:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Trying to figure the age, value, and rarity of these.
Also, for what it's worth, they're both roughly 18" tall and weigh about 15-20 lbs - hefty little things.

I'm not sure if you're telling or asking what they are.  I need to find dates and value on them.

I think these are KOKAtlanta pieces !! Big import export company similar to Pier 1 imports !! 70`s or after !! Not antique or vintage from that switch !! Pretty modern !!
