Title: Bench seat
Post by: debodun on August 08, 2012, 05:10:18 am
I've advertised this for $250 and only got 2 "nibbles", but neither party offered me over $100 citing that the right arm (as you face it) was damaged. The seat opens up for storage and the piece is 4'9" tall at the back, 3'4" wide and 17" deep. Am I asking too much or are people just looking for a steal?

Both. ;)

It looks as if the piece has been refinished as well and is now too glossy. If you combine that with the damaged arm, then $100-$150 is probably about right.

Too bad, since it's a handsome early 20th century piece! It would have brought more if:

It was 10 years ago.
It had not been refinished.
The arm had not been damaged.

I agree with that price !!  Any damage hurts value as well as re-varnish, re-finish ect !!  Otherwise nice late Victorian period hall seat/bench !!
