My mother found these 3 decanter looking bottles at Goodwill not too long ago and she doesn't quite know what they're for.
The research I've done has led me to the proper terms in which to describe them:
Milk glass, crystal footed decanter with crystal stopper. (2 tota.l)
Maroon glass decanter with crystal stopper. (1 total)
I haven't been able to find an identical one to either decanter online, nor have I been able to find decanters with different colored bottoms ("the foot").
I'm suspecting that they're from the 70s, judging from the hue of colors they are, as well as the "clear" film that seems to be coating the stopper. It's such a film that it catches the other colors & creates it own unique hue.
I'll continue to google and read threads about "similar" decanters, but I thought I'd put this out to you good folks to see if any of you could be of any help.
Thanks and happy findings,
AG ;D

That irridescence is typical of that era and appears on many types of glassware !! You didn`t give the size of these but the one on the left looks like a fragrance bottle !! How big are they ??

Nicely expressed! You should be a writer. ;)

Gives a rainbow effect depending on how light hits it !!
-
need sizes :)
-
Goodness. Apologies!
The two white ones are about 16/17 inches.
The maroon looking one is around 10 inches or so.

(*warning* off topic) Thanks! I was a writer for a small paper a while back!

That's okay...we get off topic quite often here! :) Welcome to the world the rest of us experience!

Would you measure please ?? If you do not have a ruler use a piece of copy paper and see if the white ones are taller than it is !! The size is important as to what they had in them !!

Hello Mart, These are the measurements she left just above
-
I saw that but looking at the pic and the glass behind it, also because she said "about" on the height !! I am thinking they are smaller !! Maybe not but would be good to measure rather than use approx. heights !!
-
Ahh, I see exactly what you are saying.
-
And looking at the way they are made, neck and stopper would be about 2 1/2 to three inches so bottle would be approx 8 inches on the smaller one then there is the thickness of the glass to consider,, that would rule out liquor !! Wouldn`t hold enough to make profit reasonable even with the bottle !! Distillers rarely use the decanter bottles on an amount that small !! And if it were a liquor,, it would say so on the bottom of the bottle !!
-
You so smart Mart! (That even rhymes!)
-
LOL,, KC`s a poet,, and now we all know it !! Not sure but,, I think if the white ones are indeed smaller and thicker glass that they may have held bath salts or something similar from the 70`s !! Would like to know if anything is on the bottom !!
-
I'm leaning for decorative if there isn't!
-
Liquor would be impressed on bottom !!
-
Lotions, oils, bath salts, or some similar use.
-
Yep !!! Thats my thinking !!
