750 width

more pics

By the design on the top..and front..i,d say earlier that the 30,s...more like Art -Deco....20,s
-
I'd stick with the first guess....1930s. Walnut. In the U.S. I'd guess its worth to be about $200-$300.
Nice piece. Unusual!

$200 seems cheap to me, but your prices are unbelievable! Since I love walnut/rosewood/mahogany/oak, I should clearly be on the "auld sod," picking up bargains left and right.
Instead I'm stuck in the middle of the U.S., where these woods still command some $. Stupid hemispheres!

I agree with 30ish date,, there are some stickers of some sort on back !! What are they ?? Price here in my state likely under $200. You can find these English cabinets everywhere !! I have a similarly styled English cabinet !!

It's that period anyway, isn't it ? Late 20's / 30's. And £25 would be doing well.

Okay, another question. Are there any glass shelves? Can you tell if there were shelves/or is there evidence of shelves at some point?
This is a very beautiful piece. Don't see this style carving on many pieces. Would sell for $200 - $275 MY NECK-O-THE-WOODS.
Would also like to inquire as to what the stickers are.
-
Brown furniture isn't selling here on the left side of Canada either. At auction they aren't getting anymore than $60 & that one looks like it's not had some love for a while. Would agree with the 20's-30's date.
-
Kit dose have shelves but I'm not sure if they are glass? It's just secetape on he back from damage in transport.

I think KC and Wull are right on target with this. The market in the UK has always been lower on this style, and even older pieces, than here. Before shipping got so expensive containers of late 19th and early 20th century furniture were arriving here frequently from the UK and sold at auctions in the South. The southerners had a liking for dark wood especially if it was carved.
Brown furniture? Now there's a term I never heard before.
I would expect to get around 100.00 for this piece in its present condition in the NY metro area..

Brown furniture is a term used for run of the mill antique furniture. Although mainly a UK term, it is well known here in the colonies as well. Here is an article on selling antiques or brown furniture from the UK.

this link..is almost bang on...but..these prices are London prices....the further north you go...the prices just keep going down...and i,ve seen MFI furniture more expensive than an early Victorian 2 over 3 chest of drawers...that could command..£800..just a few years ago....that are now changing hands at the dealers for £150....and its still on the decline....over here that is....
-
here,s a similar china cabinet..its one of 3 that is being sold here in Scotland on Gumtree...all 3 are for sale by the same seller...£50 for all 3..
-
Such as shame because its a nice bit of furniture!!
-
not a shame.....good for buyers ...if you can find them.....these have been for sale for a while...
-
Thanks for your help everyone

Where I am, that one would bring $300. to $350. easily !!

This is why location is so important. Mid century modern Asian collectibles & very, very good quality antiques are the only things selling here on the West Coast. Anything else is going for peanuts at the auction & you can't get a dealer to come out unless it's vetted first.
-
Its the curved front that make them sell well here !! Flat front are much less !!
-
This is what you could get for $280..here in Scotland.or even a bit less...as its been on for a month.......

-
If I bought a set like that they would chunk me out of Texas !! Not my style !!
-
Not my style either...but the point is...this seller paid..over £600+ for this...more fool them.i say....but..it just highlights what prices are like ..as is with these 2 china cabinets..that i mentioned that were sold last week...1 @ £4..and the other ..@ £10..
