Given the width of those "backboards" ...... that is really an old one. ;D ;D

And thus I'm guessing those boards are affixed with small "square" nails.

Yes!

It would be in your best interest to have an expert appraiser in on this one.

Very nice...The dovetailed case makes me think it could be a piece from the mid 18th century.
Certainly worth a closer look!

And if they are "single" board sides and top, which they look like they might be, then yes, ...... mid 18th century or there about.

I would like to see a better picture of both the top and a side.

Unfortunately i cant get anymore pictures for a few weeks. Items are in new England and i am having them shipped to my home in California by a transit company that specializes in antiques transport.

I inherited a few unique items i want to have appraised anyway.
Aaron Miller Grandfather clock
Strange tray that i was told was a cobblers bench, but no one seems to know what it is..(there's an open post for that one too)
Small end table
Foot stool
and this dresser.

My grandparents collected antiques, but most were picked over after her death. these items were left for me from my mothers passing.

As soon as i receive the items i will provide as many pictures as requested.

I thought that bench/tray looked colonial !!  Makes much more sense now !!  This dresser/chest is what one would expect from that era !!  Hope the shipping goes well !!

The c.o.d has a Georgian look but there's something not quite right.

The clock face is similar, but the housing is slightly different.

Yes, its going to need to be restored. Its been in 3 pieces in my brothers basement for a long time.

From what i understand it pre dates the revolutionary war and is well worth restoring.
