Owner of Estate Sale "agent" says they are from the 1800's. They want $2250 for the set. They where at $4000.
-
Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

Any particular reason Ipcress??

Can't find any other markings on bottom of this vase other than what is stated above. 1666 3

Any particular reason Ipcress??
They look odd, the colours seem wrong, the gilding is poor. Such a vague description from the seller also suggests they don't know.
Are they porcelain ?
-
Yes porcelain.
-
Post a good pic of the bottom please !! That will help on judging age !! Look pretty new to me !!
-
I will Mart. Sat morning. Thanks for the help!!
-
If it helps bottom is white porcelain and looks pretty clean.

Whilst they are not my cup of tea,....either,..until we know more about them...we can only guesstimate.their value,.I would take what the estate agent says with a large pinch of salt, after all he is only trying to l maximise his commission...and he is dangling the carrot....by saying they have been reduced from $4000...to $2250...my advice would be...if you have this kind of money to spend...do not be fooled by sales talk...find yourself a named piece..that at least can be verified...

That would be a problem !! Nothing from the 1800`s can sit around anywhere and stay very clean !! I don`t care how good a housekeeper they are !! We can tell more with the pic !! From the pics above,, they look like pretty new repros !! Even if they are that old,, they would have to have a quality makers mark to be worth that much even after price was reduced !! There is certainly no age showing in the pics !!

Thanks everyone for your help! I decided to stay away from those vases ;D
-
You should have asked for some documentation of some kind to prove the price you were paying for it.
-
They only knew what they where telling me. Which wasn't much.
They had nothing to back-up what they where asking for the vases.
So I took a pass ;)

I sent pics of these 2 "fine Specimans"...to Great Western Auctions...for a valuation...this is there response
Thank you for your e-mail.
From your image your vases look like they are Victorian glass vases. Either hand painted or transfer printed.
At auction I would expect them to fetch in the region of £50-100.
If you wish to consign them for auction, please bring them in Tuesday to Thursday 10am-4pm.
Kind regards

No one has said they Are Victorian...nor have they said there.worth £150...but seeing as how you would,nt touch them with your ever present barge pole...perhaps you will enlighten us with your superior knowledge..

No one has said they Are Victorian.
What does it say in that e-mail you posted ? " look like they are Victorian glass " Hence my comment.
-
Exactly...they "look like"...Not they are...
-
You have to learn to translate Bigwull`s posts !! ;)
-
Exactly...they "look like"...Not they are...
And so i can't still state my opinion that they aren't " I seriously doubt they're Victorian " is perfectly reasonable after that.
