Title: Looking for information on this piece

I received this piece from my grandmother about 6 years ago. I believe it to be a centerpiece of either for flowers or fruit. here is the picture. It is cast iron with a glass top. Thank you for the help.

I would be surprised if it was cast iron...what makes you think it is...and are there any marks,

I used the wrong word not cast iron, but i can not think of the word now.

it looks more like cast alloy,which is also known as white metal...

Yep, looks like a centerpiece ca. 1970s.
