I could not find a thing running searches for "Mary Jane". anyone else?
-
it looks like its for dispersing...someth ing,...that screw on the side, is it a cap, and is this "container"hollow...
-
A "rolling" salt shaker??? >:( >:(
-
its along those lines.....i thought maybe a gardening tool....for dispersing...whatev er....
-
Might be a good seller today...Looks like a "bed bug powder dispenser" for running around your bed to create a kill zone on the floor. ???
-
:o :o :o :o :o..whats this...the man who knows everything...guessi ng......Oh!!....my bubble has been burst.... :'( :'(
-
:) salt shaker , my grandma used about that much salt !
Well .. it is totaly hollow and the inside is pretty clean . From what i can reason , it was not meant to get hot or it would ruin the paint on it so its not a smoker of sorts . Dont think it was for rolling in the dirt .
Bed bug dispenser does make sence . I guessed it might be to roll out lime or chalk on grass for a sport of some kind . The grille is only about 2'' wide .
Or it could be used to put dirt on a clean floor ???

thats what gardening tools do, they dispense things....but not flea pooder... ;D

Reminds me of a marking tool! You fill with powder and walk, rolling it on the ground and it leaves a powdered marking!!!
-

I was thinking as in marking a field or garden.

LOL !! I had to paint a butt on a bucket for a friend once,, And I labeled it as such !! "Butt Bucket" for smokers !!

With that fancily written name of "Mary Jane" on it ..... I'm guessing that it is a "specialty" kitchen item for dispensing a garnish on a baking pan or on the food that is to be or was already baked.
Maybe for "sprinkling" an even coating of sugar on cookies or whatever. ;D ;D

If thats the case then it must have been for a family of Giants....

"Wullie's gone but his song lives on."
Perhaps he needs a new "Audience."

I would say its for marking a outline in chalk, like for a tennis court or a baseball field.
-

OOPS, ... my bad, .... I didn't realize one could still buy one of those "thingy's" at a Sears, Walmart or Dollar General Store. How much do they cost, I need at least 2 of them? ;D ;D ;D
Now it will surely be highly surprising to ya'll .... but pre-1950 there was not very many gigantic bakeries producing tens-of-thousands of Sugar Cookies, etc., etc., 24/7 every day of the year ........ but there were tens-of-thousands of, per say, Mom n' Pop bakeries with one or more operating in most every city and town in the US of A.
And those are pretty much all gone ..... except the ones that "specialize" in donuts.
HA, I remember my mother once handing me a nickel with instructions to go down to the local bakery and get a loaf of "fresh baked" bread, which I did.
I think it was for making sandwiches to put in Dad's lunch pail ..... because Ma always made a pan of biscuits for pretty much every meal.
It t'wasn't until loaves of "sliced" bread started being delivered to the grocery stores that Mom's biscuit making slowed up.
Cheers
