I really just had a question and I could not find the answer online anywhere. Do any of you happen to know what this horse is and if its just made by a person or worth anything? My grandfather bought it for my girls and he paid a lot of money. i want to know if he got ripped off. He is a 90 year old man and very friendly and believes everything people tell him. Thank you so much for any answers. Once I get my kids to bed I will do an intro post. thanks again.

Seeing as how the Horse,s head is only in silhouette,...and by the looks of it, 3/4in ply,..there is every indication, that this,is,nt an expensive Rocking horse, but having said that,...just because it does,nt have a full body, does,nt mean to say, it did,nt cost a bit when first made...This may be one of these.... or similar...having looked at this horse more closely.i can see that its is all silhouette, with just a flat seat, which now screams at me..."flat pack"...my only hope is,that your Grandfather, did,nt pay way over the top,.but having said that, even as a flat pack, from the company below, you,d be paying £200/300.+..but this one of yours,is,nt one of these,....therefore there is every indication..that this is a cheaper version....or possibly, shed built..

Sorry :) I am in South Carolina/Georgia area. It was bought in McCormick, SC. Here are some more pictures no name on it other than 'black beauty' which is painted over. So I can only see it with lights on it. :/ I just feel bad for my Grandfather so was getting more information on it. Thank you for all the help so far :)

Its most likely been a flat pack,....value, when it was new, will have been around $200/350,...if your grandad paid more....just let him think he got a bargain..for as only you will know..he meant well,..unlike...the seller...

adwilson, don't know if this will help out any (hopefully you're on Facebook). Described as 1940's

Looks the same except for the saddle skirt !! Perhaps this one was touched up and the skirt painted black because whoever did the restoration couldn`t paint the letters !!
-
The only difference (other than paint job) that I can see is the rocker set up. adwilson's is on a swing type frame where as the one on FB is conventional rockers. One or the other may be a replacement (or a newer model).

Nice whatever it is !! I look at it like this,, if he is happy and your kids are happy,, its worth it !! Like some of us here say,, it isn`t always about money !! Right folks ????

Here it is here, no bids, low start price....but as Mart, has rightly said, its not always about money, ..but, having said that, some sellers are unscrupulous..and only have $$ bills for eyeballs,

Thanks a lot you guys! and amazing you found the horse. I had literally been looking for a few months lol. The kids do love it I just hate people taking advantage of my Grandfathers kindness. But I def. am not telling him he spent too much. It was an old run down store he got it from trying to make a buck. Thanks again! This was very helpful

Give him a hug for us !! That was a sweet thing for him to do !!

Very sweet of him :) I'm going this weekend up to his storage unit to look for stuff to keep from his parents. He has lots of old stuff from Scotland :) hoping to get some amazing treasures to decorate my house with.
