I picked up this table for $5 at a sale. Using it in the shop/cave. Looks nice. No writing on it anywhere. Any ideas on it?

Looks to me like someone's pet project. The baluster leg of an old dining table with a top, that design carved in to match with the leg
Most single legs i've seen have circular tops. Also, the surface of the top is rough, unvarnished.

I agree with Ipcress !! Can you take a pic of the underside ?? Where the top is attached ?? That looks like a pedestal for a dining table !!

Would be worth it to refinish it.
Here's one similar you can purchase.

Well,, it does look like it was made for an end table !! Its really rather odd looking !! Base is way too large for top and makes it look unbalanced !!
-
What do you make of the extra holes though, Mart ?
-
Haven`t figured that one out yet Ipcress !! Let me sleep on it !!
-
Appears as if a "new" top was added to the base!

Probably right KC !! Those extra holes could be from another application !! The design on top doesn`t match the base at all to me !!

Thanks for all the input. I bought it for the shop/cave, that's where it will stay. I just wondered what I had.

Well,, may be a married piece but at least no one will have one exactly like it !!
