Post by: domine on November 17, 2014, 12:38:41 PM
Hello,
how do reproduced ashtray at whether it is a replica or an original piece? On the Internet I found only two. One is from the 50s (he looks a little different-is plumper) and the other from the 30s years. This corresponds to what I ashtray on his photo. Ashtray should be carved Cinnabar or wood and folded paper. How do I find the material? In what price range are antique moves? One user wrote that certain details of the subject matter found in "Henry's 2010 Catalog". Product anywhere on the internet I found online. This is a printed catalog?
Thank you for your help and have a nice day.

What do you mean "folded paper" ?? Are you asking if this is a reproduction ??  Looks like a nice carved cinnabar ashtray !! Does not look like a repro to me !! And you want to know when it was made ?? (just making sure I understand what you need to know) !!

Hello, your item seems to be carved, not molded. If it is cinnabar, you should be able to see many layers of it in the places where the piece is carved ( I cannot see these in your photos). However, I think it looks more like 1950s or even a bit later.

Agree with Mat.

Also, these items/ashtrays are being noted as being made up to the late 1990's.  So, unless there is some identifying mark as to the actual maker it would be hard to say exactly when this one was made. But From all of the ones I have seen they range from 1920's to 1990's.
