Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew what this thin 3 D celluloid piece would have been used for.
It measures about 5" square and is thin.
There is a small string on the right side like it would have been attached to something. I can't find anything like it!
Thanks for your help.

Possibly a tree ornament? Goes it have a whole made for the string?
-
Yes. There is a small hole on both sides. Only one still has the little piece of string on it.

I am wondering if it was a decorative item on one of those ornate Victorian style bird houses With a hole in both sides it would hang straight !! Perhaps attached to the chain that held the birdhouse !!
-
The only trouble I can see with that is that it is very fragile!
-
I wonder if it was on a perfume bottle?
-
Can you please post the dimensions and a picture of it next to a quarter/dollar bill for reference?

Approx 5" square in first post !!

Thanks Mart! Overlooked that! :O
With the small string it makes me think of some old pieces I have seen in the past...where the celluloid pieces were attached to brooch pins and/or hair barrettes

This measures about 5" square.

Maybe we are overlooking the obvious !! Holes for hanging,,maybe just a small hanging wall piece !! Like the little things we used to get at Woolworths !! Maybe sold with different birds on each and inexpensively priced !! Collect a group of them with different birds on each !!
