I received this couch (with a matching chair) from my great-aunt.
It had been her mother-in-law's.
I'm just guessing it is circa 1900 judging by when it was passed down. (1935)
Any ideas on what it might be worth?
If anything substantial.
I had it reupholstered.
Before & After pictures

I think that it's not much older than 1935. Nice job on the reupholstry!
Unfortunately, seating like this tends to not be worth a whole lot. You're better off just keeping it!
-
Not older than that !! And that French Provincial style is pretty common !! I would just keep it !!
-
Nice job on the reupholstery! I wouldn't have looked twice at the "old one" but did at the second one. It sets off the wood/style/lines!
Agree with the others! Enjoy!

Thx everybody!!!
I am keeping it.
I just wanted an opinion for insurance purposes.
1935, eh?
hmmm
Maybe it was a wedding present then.
ok
;D

You said 1935 !! That would be pushing the date as early as possible !!

Well, my great-aunt got married in 1935, so I just assumed that's when she got it.
I really don't know.
Maybe she got it after several years of marriage.
What year would you say this is from, mart?

Closer to the 1940`s !! Late 30`s maybe !!

"I keep looking for the "Like" button to click.". I said the same thing when I first found this forum. Look to the right of your s seen and you should see "Karma points". You can give those who have helped you Karma Points. Its a nice jesture. Beautiful couch BTW!
-
Forgot about those !! We have Karma (applaud) points if something helps you !! Smite,, if you get PO`d !! Or if any one was rude ect !! We try to avoid those !!
-
I must be missing something so simple, but for the life of me cannot figure out how to give karma points and I have a lot stored up to give ;)
-
No, You are not missing anything !! I think you have to have a certain number of posts before you can use those !! We had someone a while back,(we do not know who) that just started handing out smites just for the heck of it !! So the rule was made to insure the person was a regular member and not a spammer before they could smite us for something we had no clue about !!
-
I think you have to have 100 posts before you can start handing out karma points. I don't know if special dispensation is available, but you would have to pm KC or Don'tBe to get it.
-
Thanks ! Smiles for all then :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
-
LOL !! That works just as well !! Thank you !!
-
I was wondering what my Karma points were all about.
Very CooL!!

You have to have 100 posts before you can give + or - points. Like Mart said it developed after people were just getting on and being abusive of the "fun little novelty" on this site.
Smiles back to you as well!
