Picked this up in an online auction. Any idea what the style is? I'm having trouble finding similar ones online It measures approx. 18" in diameter. It was listed as a Mid Century Bar Chandelier
-
Well,, I would agree its mid century but I have never seen one like it !!
-
Looks like something that I might have assembled for an architectural design class back in the 60's. ???
-
It almost looks like a bunch of horns that belong with loudspeakers. "Mid century" would be right. Not my thing. :-X
-
It looks home made !! When I enlarged the second pic the circular center that the cones are mounted to looks like its plywood !! There is nothing I can see around that edge !! Maybe they used the laminate from installing a sink (the cutout) and mounted work lights around it !!
Maybe the person will come back and tell us what its made of !!

That was my thought, too.
-
But he said 18 in. across !! Thats not very big for speakers!!
-
Looks hand made. It's off Center unless it's the way it's sitting. They look like funnels.
-

But that's plenty big for horns.

Iffen you take eight ( 8 ) of these …..

Wire them into a cluster with a chain for “hangin” and an electric cord for “pluggin” ……
And then screw in eight ( 8 ) of these …….

IMLO it would be a repro of the above pictured one.
-
Cogar,, that is more what I had in mind !! Would be good if we could see the underside !! That center circle looks like formica on top !!
-
Mart, I think the “white” object in the center is just a lid or cover for “hiding” the threaded “connectors” of the 8 reflectors and the “wire nuts” and wire that connect each bulb to the “AC” lamp cord that plugs into an AC outlet.
Via a similar construction “idea”, here is a Christmas decoration made with clear plastic cups "glued" together and a “string” of multi-colored lights.

Cogar,, enlarge the second pic and look at the edge of the circle !! See what you think !! Looks like plywood to me !!
-
Mart it does look like ply wood with a uncentered hole for lighting. Then they covered the sides which is coming off in the one spot on the side.
-
Thats what I think too Greenacres !!
-
Looks like that to me too. Just looks homemade versus commercially produced.

Mart, if that "lid" or "cover" of the internal wiring "connections" is not a disc of thin metal ...... then it has been "replaced" by an owner of said "hanging lamp".
Now I say that because it is my learned opinion, based on what I see in the above photos, .... it is an art-deco style "hanging lamp" that was produced in a shop or factory and constructed totally out of metal ...... except for the light bulbs and the insulation on the "AC" lamp cord & plug.
I can see dirt and shadows on that "cover", both pictures, but nothing else out of the ordinary,
-
Well,, I was hoping the person that posted the light would come back and give us a bit more detail,, but as usual,,they have not !!

Don't count me out yet, as soon as I get it, I'll post more pics.
-
Cogar, you are right about what you say about the metal used. I have many chandeliers, but this one may have been taken apart. You're right too that more photos are needed. I also would like to ask about that portion of the chandelier.
-
Thanks rustyattic...we are very curious!
Definitely Art Deco style!
-
I’m guessing that if or when we see a picture of the underneath side that the bottom of the center portion will oval or rounded and made like and of the same metal as the reflectors ….. with a “decorative” screw-cap affixing it to the center-pipe. ;) ;)
-
Could be Cogar,, waiting to see the additional pics !!
-
Sorry for the long wait, Better late, then never? ::)
Looks homemade. It is non-magnetic, painted metal. The top is the same metal as the rest.
-
Ahhh,, finally back !! If this is commercially made,, it was cheaply done !! Probably sheet brass !! Wondering if this was someones answer to the 60`s disco balls if colored lights were added !!
-
I think it looks fun!
-
If you had colored lights and a small motor to turn it ??
