We've got a transferware teapot, dated ca. 1870 on the price tag. There has been a repair at the end of the spout. The dimensions are 7 1/2" tall by 8 1/2" wide from handle to spout. The illustration shows the same shrub, fern, vine and butterfly on both sides, although both have not been transferred identically.
The stamp on the bottom shows a swan over a swag. The text says "trade mark/Borneo/ ___ & H." "276A/1" is written by hand in red to the upper left of the emblem.
The initial before "&H." did not "take."
So: What is the first initial supposed to be? Was the teapot in fact made ca. 1870? I'm guessing it was made in England, although it was purchased in Missouri.
I'll guess the value to be U.S. $150. Does that sound right?
Thanks all!!!

33 here...nicest day we've had for weeks.
In regard to your teapot, try Beech & Hancock maybe.

Yes, Beech & Hancock it is! Borneo was one of their patterns. 1870 seems pretty close to the right date. I have yet to find one of the teapots for sale; I did, however, find a pitcher and basin set for $400, but as of yet no takers. $150 sounds like a good price for the pitcher for insurance purposes.
Thanks Rauville. A point for you!

Scroll down here and see another of the same trademarks for T Rathbone !! This one is from 1912 !!

Looks like Rathbone may have appropriated the swan-and-banner motif after Beech & Hancock called it a day.

As I read this,, the mark was the pottery trademark where they worked (Swan Pottery) !! Only the initials are theirs !! Now to check Rathbone !!
Was looking for Rathbone and found another mark for Beech and Hancock !! That same mark was also used by at least 8 other producers !! This could get confusing !!
