Hi. I'm a new member Name is Valerie :) I wonder if anyone can tell me about this dining room table? History? Details? Worth? I have been thinking on selling it for some time, but I don't no exactly what to do or how to go about it. If you can, thank you so much, Valerie pictures included and can get more.

This is a nice ca. 1940 mahogany Duncan Phyfe-style dining room table. Similar tables could be found by the millions in the U.S. in the 1940s and 50s, the golden age of dining rooms.
Unfortunately, brown furniture has taken a dive on value. You may get $100 out of it. I'd advertise it in Craig's List or a local equivalent.

Sad to say but GHOPPER IS RIGHT ABOUT THE SELLING VALUE OF BROWN,, STAINED FURNITURE ! ignore the caps,, have a broken arm ! however due to the way it is made i would say maybe $200. due to the 4 legs or pedestals ! most are just 2 or three !!

Thanks for your incite. That is odd to me, because it has no markings at all, just some written numbers. It has 3 leaves and has original table pads. there are no scratches that I can see. It has brass lion feet and can seat about 12 people. I have found no other table with 4 legs and a lower shelf online. Are you sure that's all I can get? thanks so much. Valerie

It has brass lion feet and can seat about 12 people.
"HA", the problem is, ........ now days, .... 97% of all apartments & mobile home, ........ and 87% of all "stick-built" homes ....... do not have a dining room large enough to seat 12 people at a table. ;D ;D

furniture was rarely ever marked and the numbers were used after about 1930 and are only helpful to the factory workers that made it !! back in the 1980`s i had this style in my living and dining room !! as Cogar said most homes today except for the old ones just do not have room for these large tables !! and with brown furniture out of date for todays styles,,i think thats about all you could get !! it looks to have been well kept so as with selling anything ,,always ask more than you think you can get !! first rule of a buyer is to get the price down !! they never pay asking price !! it never hurts to first put the price you think it is worth,,,then come down if there is no interest !! you might luck out and be in an area with a nice historical district with the larger dining rooms !! good luck with it !!
-
Lol Cogar, I'm laughing and thinking that the table also has ends that drop; enough for 2 people. Great for a trailer. ha ha Thank you for the info Mart, its nice to talk to people about these things. Good info!

I have a few things, but anything you can tell me is helpful. here's a radio, 1937 zenith...
-
now that is unusual !! have never seen that style !! do you have the model number ? does it work ?
-
I plugged it in years ago and it did wrk. i haven't plugged it in since then cause I used it for a end table. ill check for markings.
-
Sorry. I cant read any thing but zenith on the silver tag, but there is more on it. Other markings are included. Valerie

this is on the bottom.
-
a different view.

nothing i can read !! i would suggest a site that specializes in tube radios ! its a bit out of my area ! some do very well depending on how many were made !

This one is made similarly from 1938 ! could have been several different models !!
-
Thank you. I know the model number is on the tag, but can only see it in different lights. I'll try more later.

This is called a chairside radio. Some people call them small consoles...but small consoles were miniatures of the large console.
Is this like yours?
