My wife and I have two antique lamps and we have no idea what their value is. Can anyone give me a ballpark idea or offer suggestions as to how to get them appraised?
They are brass, kerosene lamps. There is a tall and skinny piece of clear glass to cover the flame and a good-size ceramic shade with a hole in the top for the tall piece to fit through. The shade is a mauve color.
Any thoughts on their age and/or value?

Hard to say without a picture or brand name, and I'm no expert but the brass, the chimney, and the shade make me think either 40's or 30's. Find a brand and model number and that will tell you more. Aladdin puts the marks on the knob that cranks the wick up and down. Others do writing on the bottom or on the burner itself right where the chimney slips in.
More value for a complete set. You need a wick, flame spreader, and mantle to get the best value.

Hubruff may be right, but we need pictures!

I'm guessing that after 9 years, the original poster in this case may have decided against taking photos? ::)
