It has 2 glass doors open up to 4 shelves lined with a red velvet. There is a large draw on the bottom. I believe this is very unique piece because I have tried to find pieces like it but have had no luck..any information would be great!
Measures: 51" across x 60 1/2 (h) x 17 1/2 (deep)

It is a bookcase and not a china cabinet.
Here is one like it.

thanks this is great to know? Do anyone know anything more about this bookcase? When/where it is from? About how much it is worth?

Schzoom, I’m still pondering the possibility that it might be the top portion of a 2-piece unit. I say that because of the drawer at the bottom, which if the unit is placed on the floor makes it quite unhandy and awkward to open & close …… and especially when inserting and retrieving papers & things one normally places in a drawer of that depth.
Thus, given the dimensions of 51" (wide) x 60 1/2 (h) x 17 1/2 (deep) then my guess is originally there was a matching table (or desk) with a flat top measuring 51” – 52” wide and 30” +- deep …… and your piece would sit right on top of the table and there would be room for a writing/working area in front of the drawer.
Now I once had a similar 2-section piece, but primitive, which I called a Country Secretary.
Schzoom, I imagine the matching base for yours “got lost” along the way. Without the 2 pieces sitting side-by-side or one on top, the base would just be “another pretty table”. Just my opinion though.

Greeting's if we were to add a base. we would have a hutch the design is neo classical. about circa 1880 or 90. not impossible to be a book case. but certainly would be awkward.
-
great..so it looks like it might be a hutch? It has velvet lined shelves so this would be for china? Any idea how I can find out what it is worth?
-
what it's not worth. is what ruby lane is asking.it might sell at $500.00 dollars.
-
Greeting's, if Ruby Lane had it for sale, ...... it just might be.
-
thanks...I guess I got ripped off since I paid over $1000 for it from my neighbors who needed to get rid of it & said they paid $1800 for it....
-
they could have very well paid $1,800.00 but it's what one is willing to pay.well advertised, you might get your money back.but it's a tight market.

Im a newbie but very interested in antiques, I have been searching for information
on a china cabinet that I just purchased. I have searched Ebay and other sites for a
similar china cabinet but have not found one. I hope that someone on this site can identify
it for me. I will post pics of it as soon as I fiqure out HOW TO DO IT

Very nice piece and well worth the price.
That "design" was common among many manufacturers. My wife has a small corner cabinet that was given to her of the same design, but not the quality of yours.
I'll guess and say circa 1930's.
Have you checked the back or the bottom of the cabinet for a maker's "stamp"?
