This is a stone jug.It has a label of a Whiskey Co. in Canton,Mississippi.I can't find anything of a company by that name.I know the jug would have very little value, the handle is broke, and it's not in the best of shape. It has been in my wife's family many, many years.Canton is not far from our home, and it would be nice to know a little history. The name looks like Vic. Trolio Whiskies
Thanks for any help,God bless,Keith

Keith, that looks to me to be rare enough that a broken handle wouldn't make much difference to a stoneware collector.
If you have any auctioneers in the area call one up and ask them about what it might bring if you consigned it to an auction?
-
Cogar I agree it does look rare, Stoneware collectors will pay a pretty penny for rare jugs with decoration or product markings even with damage. found this site maybe someone there can help www.fdscs.org/ as I am by no means an expert. Please let us know what you discover.

Thanks cougar and wendy.I was able to find two more at different auction sites, one of them sold for about 300.00,which I thought was pretty good, and the writing was not as clear. The other was still up for auction, and said the handle had been replaced, high bid,so far,was $185,and I think it had several days left, but so far,I've not been able to find any history on the company in Canton.I'll keep looking, and I'll let ya'll know. Thanks for the link wendy,it looks like a good site,I'm going to look back at it.
Thanks again,God bless,Keith

Hi Kieth have been digging around and found there is a historic hotel called Trolio hotel in Canton Miss. it is located across the street from the court house I believe built in the 1890s beautiful home Maybe you could contact someone in Canton and try to track its history to see if it is the same family that produced your Vic Trolio whiskey. good luck

I have one of these jugs. It seems to be pre 1907 Here's a link http://pre-prowhiskeymen.blogspot.com/2012/06/vic-trolio-italian-saloonkeeper-in.html (http://pre-prowhiskeymen.blogspot.com/2012/06/vic-trolio-italian-saloonkeeper-in.html)
It's very interesting......

Beautiful jug! Looks like it's worth some coin after all.
I'd try searching under Victor Trolio. Maybe he's the hotel's founder.
