Title: Madonna & Child
Post by: Dean Perdue on November 09, 2009, 07:26:27 pm
Any idea's on what this is off of or for?
It came from Belgium and is heavy but bends very easily.
Love the eyes and shadows on the face.
Seller stated it was from the 1920's. What do you guys think??
Measures 3.75" x 1.75"
Thanks

If it bends really easy could be Lead, or maybe just pewter with lots of lead.  Either way sures sounds like lead to me.

It does sound like lead or lead/tin alloy , from your breif description .

Perhaps it was a funerary-related item ?

Under hi-mag , it seems as if there may be 'printing' at the bottom R. (of the main 'body' image panel in pic #1) ?.?.?... perhaps the artists' name ?... can't really tell for sure , though .

Thanks Ironlord & Fancypants. I never knew lead was like that.
Appreciate the lesson and your time.

How thick is it?

It reminds me of an old printing piece!  Are the pictures etched into the "lead"?
