Was searching the Smithsonian's files for Scandinavian chairs....and found that the chairs by Hans J. Wegner are worth a fortune.
My parents have two of them - immaculate condition - original upholstery.
My parent's are blue with matching foot stools!

In fact, they have over 14 pieces of his furniture - owned by themm since they were made! IN fact...my mom met him and fell in love with his furniture and went wild over buying it when they lived overseas!
Cool!

Woohoo! Way to go Mom n' Pop!!! ;D I bet they'll enjoy hearing that news!
-
Wow over 5 g's each, that would pay for all my wonderful pressboard furniture in my house ;D. What a great discover KC, bet they are really comfortable too.
-
They are so-o-o-o-o comfortable.
She mentioned seeing one like theirs when they visited the museums this past summer. But she will go nuts when I show her tomorrow!!!!! (Probably one of those I TOLD YOU SO things with my dad as well! LOL)
-
It is always nice to sit in one's retirement nest and enjoy it too, just watch the pop!
-
Wonderful KC she will be so pleased!!!! Always great when you find out something that you love is worth $$$$$$ ;)

This is one time ''Setting'' on a gold mine fit's the term. surpriseingly a lot of this furniture was being imported to the u.s. in the 1960's & 1970's

I'd love to see the look on your parents faces when you tell them, KC.
Congratulations!!
-
Actually, it was bought when they lived overseas and was shipped back with the house full!
-
And no one spilled grape juice on it! *whew!*
-
Very nice discovery , KC .
Just goes to show ya' never know what's right around the corner !

Doggone it...forgot my camera. They actually bought them at the little store he was selling out of in Odense, Denmark.
The entire table, 8 chairs (the chairs are named Savbukstolen), tea cart and buffet/sideboard are marked Hans J Wegner (stamped) and each has an etched ID#. He only made 724 chairs like these.
IN addition they have 2 end tables (gave the coffee tables and couch to my brother several years back!)! Even have a desk - but I will have to wait another day to turn it upside down to see if his mark is on it.
They didn't believe me that the photo I posted earlier is called a Papa Bear chair! LOL Trying to find a value on the matching foot stools as well.
Also have 2 chairs that were bought same day/time. Same materials, same construction that aren't marked but were from his store (arm chairs for the table set). Will post pics later!
Keep my mom in your prayers. She is really sick and might be taking her to the hospital tonight - she is on the verge of pneumonia and the meds they gave her on Monday don't seem to be working. The first smile for days was about the furniture!!!
-
Oh Kc I will place your mother in my prayers tonight & until we hear from you she is home and well!!!! So glad you could make her smile!!! Everything takes a backseat when a loved one is sick.

I'm with wendy177 , KC .
Here's hoping that your mom will have her oars back in the water right away !

My Blessing and prayers to your mother KC
-
Thanks everyone for your prayers, thoughts and well wishes.
After talking with my mother's doctors (remember all to get your names on your parents' and adult children's doctor's forms/files due to HEPA laws and their names on yours in case of extreme illness) and convincing them I am her child we were able to get her the medications she needed and barely avoided a hospital stay! She is doing better this evening and breathing decently.
Thanks again!!!!
By the way...crawling through all of their furniture I even found a Hans Wegner rocking chair and desk!!!!!!! (They bought an entire house full of furniture when they had to move to Europe because they sold all they had here, or gave it to relatives, before they moved!)
-
Oh KC!! So sorry to hear about your mom, but glad your latest post says that she is doing better. Sending well wishes, prayers and am immediately dispatching a whole flock of feathery winged Antiques Forum Guardian Angels out her way! You should hear fluttering right about now...
-
Yep....we hear them and the neighbor's dog is barking so it hears them as well1 :)
Thank a bunch!!!

Thanks for posting updates , KC .
Looks like there's good progress all along the way .
Great advice on the release forms & HEPA stuff !
That slippery slope can get full of thorns real quick , and I'm real glad to hear you've not had to be too bashful about climbing over some of them .
I look 4ward to seeing some pics of the cool suite of furniture , when your time away from your other duties allows , of course .
:)
