Title: Phone desk? Not sure what it is

I was given this by my mother in law, she said it was her mom's old school desk but it looks like a phone desk to me. Any ideas if this is a phone desk and if it is worth anything?

One ringy dingy, two ringy dingy...I vote for a phone stand also.  Almost obsolete with todays cellphone lifestyle.  If you find someone that is looking for one, you will have found that special buyer.  A very narrow market.

yepper.....agree with wayward.  Sell between $25 - $40 in my area on good days!

for sure a phone desk..no idea of value..if u put a phone on it some one mite ring up and make you an offer hehe

Hard to tell from the pics, but is it mahogany veneer, seems a strange combination of style and wood if it is.

These are properly called a Gossip Bench but are also known as a Telephone Table or Telephone Seat.

Now, if you run across ornate and unique ones....they are worth alot more....such as

If made of mahogany they demand a higher price.
