FYI for anyone selling on ebay or anywhere else...Priority Mail prices have gone up including medium and large flate rate boxes.
-
Price is less if you don`t use their boxes.

Yes and no. Sometimes a medium flat rate or large flat rate box is more economical than paying by weight, especially to zones 6-8. Regular Priority boxes, No 4 and No 7 is what I normally use, are generally cheaper, but it also depends on zone and weight. Paying online through PayPal or another vendor saves money and Delivery Confirmation is free electronically.

I sent out a small 1 pound package parcel post yesterday and it was almost $9.00. I was pis$** because I only got $6.00 total from the buyer. I can't believe a little one pound box cost me that freaking much.

Hosman, where did you go? 1lb is $4.90 and even at 2lb it does not approach $9 unless you are mailing to zone 8 from your ZIP.

Yeah, it was to zone 8. Beaumont, TX 77706. Cost was $8.09. I thought I spent $8.90. Receipt says it was 1 pound, 1 oz. :-\

I would invest in an accurate scale. That extra ounce cost you $3.19. I have bought 3 scales cheap...2 at yard sales and one on clearance at Office Max. I have a 5 lb Pelouze spring scale which is very accurate to the ounce, a 2 lb Pelouze which is OK, and a 50 lb. Pelouze accurate to 2 oz. I also bought a set of small brass weights at a yard sale to check the accuarcy of my smaller scales. The yard sale scales were $1-2 because they have old postal rates on them and the 50 lb scale was about $20 on clearance with another 20% off sale. I use the 5 lb. scale all the time and rarely use the 50 lb. scale.
