Okay last one for now.
This is another mark I can't ID. And like the other piece I showed i have been trying for about a year. I like this piece a lot because of the painting. Through research I have found out that big version with this shape, and with painting on the inside/outside are usually labeled "Fish bowl planter" and most of them seem to have a pretty big price tag. This one however stands about 3" high and 4"across.
I have looked at a really good site that has tons of Chinese, and Japanese marks, but I can not find this one.

I'm not much into ceramics, but that is a really beautiful little piece! It appears to be Japanese to me, looking at the ladies wearing kimonos. I can't offer much more than that.

The one thing that is quite clear is the "Made in China" in the 'hallmark' on the bottom of your item , bob535 .

GREAT observation, fancypants! It looked like red paint marks to me but now that you pointed it out, it is plain as day. Does that mean it is new and a recent Chinese import?
-
;D you guys are awesome. That made me laugh.
Thanks
-
I does say made in China!! LOLOL... I saw marks and assumed they were all Chinese/Japanese marks. Nice pick up!!
-
Me too...lol. I have had this piece for a long time and always assumed they were all symbols, and now that it is pointed out, I see it clear sooooo clear. Kinda makes me feel dumb, but at the same time it is too funny.

Sometimes we only look for what we want to see and not what is actually staring us in the face. ;D
-
I think that the "Made in China",,,Japan ect was added after 1950 or so when much was exported to the US and other countries.
-
I'd say your item is 1960's (or later) manufacture , since the chinese symbols are written 'western style' (left-to-right) .
Appears to be a Zhong Guo Zhi Zao ("China Made") mark , to me .

That will teach me to look at the first line and think "I can't read any of that!" LOL! *smacks self on forehead* DOH!!!!
-
I knew I'd seen that type of mark before. You had me doing a bit of hunting to find it. ;)

Haha Thanks Sapphire for going through all that trouble!! That is very similar.
And thanks to everyone else...much appreciated.
