Title: Old Native American Basket? Updated pics

Hey all! This is my first post here so bare with me! My friend bought this basket at a garage sale a couple weeks ago, and we can not figure out where it is from or if it is even old. It is about 12-13 inches across and seems to have some kind of glue stuck on the inside of it as well. So any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much!!

Are there any native tribes in your area with a cultural center that you could take it to?

I agree, a hands-on evaluation would be a good idea. These can be quite valuable if truly old, or they can be modern reproductions, or nicely done Native American made traditional crafts. There is also the possibility of it having been taken from a burial site or other culturally/historically sensitive place.  Best to let someone who is familiar with these see it in person.

I agree !!  The colors seem to be plant based and work is beautiful !! Take it to someone experienced in native American tribes of your area !!

Thanks for the info! I am thinking of taking it to a native american museum close by. Ill let ya know how it goes
