Title: Is this a Fenton bowl?
Post by: snowflake on September 12, 2011, 11:56:30 am
Am I right in guessing this is a Fenton rose/milk glass bowl? Value between $35-$39. Just want to see if I am learning something or do I get a fail?

Height: 4 inches
Width at top: 6 3/4 inches
No marks.

Thanks!

yes good job!!!   :D  it is Fenton called peach crest petticoat glass # 7227 they also used this shape in silver crest that I know of off hand.  As far as value hang on I only see fenton going up in price as they will no longer make art glass. It is actually ruby overlay encased in milk glass which results in the beautiful pink peach color.

Snowflake,, there are certain things that you want to mark as "keepers" !!  This is one of them !!

Thanks so much everyone! Keep it?  :(  Ok. I don't know why, but I just don't love white glass. We have pieces of milk glass I wanted to get rid of and my husband wanted to keep. So I "keep" them in a cardboard box.  :)

It just that how many knick knacks do I want to dust? I will heed your advice and keep though. :)
I do like that they belonged to family and have a history. But I am being overwhelmed with it all.

I am learning antiques though...yay!

Hey snowflake,
I have to go to the post office, but when I get back I'll check my Fenton book that has a price guide in it...I'll see if this piece is in there.  Peach crest is worth a little more than some of the other crests.

Although I agree with mart about keeping it, I checked Warman's price guide and it doesn't have your size bowl but has a 13" diameter double crimp version that is priced at $120+, ca. 1940s.  Comparing the 1940s & 1950s Peach Crest, yours looks like a 1940s.  I would guess your bowl is probably worth about half of the larger version I just mentioned.  Found a few for sale of your exact kind in the $25-$45 range online, which is low-balling it and why you should probably hang on to it until they are rarer.

correct Mart   They are stopping ALL art glass not just some lines or molds But ALL Art glass will no longer be produced by Fenton. If you check ebay they only have 104 pieces of peach crest listed , silver crest 667, cranberry 1,165 listed, off hand art glass only 10 pieces listed see where I am going with this!! ;D

Beautiful piece of fenton peach crest! I would easily say it is worth $30 to $40. As for the rumor that Fenton wont be producing art glass anymore is just that. A rumor. They re-evaluated their business a couple of years ago to see if stopping production was worth it or not and decided to continue. They are still producing beautiful art glass as well as some jewelry now and for all that i can tell they plan on producing for many more years.

All right i have to admit that i was wrong and behind on info. It looks like they are shutting down most furnaces and concentrating on new products such as glass beads and earrings. SO SAD!!!

That's okay. It means they will only go up in value for us!  :D I make jewelry and love glass beads! All great news for me!
