I found this little toy soldier that I thought was neat. I had no idea if it were even old, or had any value, but i liked it. If it doesn't have any value I will just keep it.
I don't know what kind of metal it is made out of, but id does seem to be molded.
There are no marks, but the bottom has felt glues to it, as if it was cut off a model landscape or something.

That is tiny !! What,, about an inch and a half tall ??
-
That's about right........just measured, and it is an 1 1/4 inch ;D
-
Ohh and it looks like he is blowing into a horn of some kind....i just looked at the pictures i posted and noticed that you could not really tell from the pics what he was doing.
-
Sorry...one more note....I just noticed that it looks as if the soldier and horse were two separate molds, but made to go with each other.
-
At that size I was wondering if its maybe a game piece rather than a toy that kids would play with !! Unless it was part of a complete set of soldiers !!
-
Sure Looks like a Lead Figurine I used in the 80's with Dungeons and Dragons.
-
ironlord, i was thinking the same thing (old game piece).
-
But they also made tiny lead figures in the 19th century as childrens toys. Remember the tiny horse that I have? Looks like the photo on the old topic is dead, I'm going now to take a picture and will put it up.
-
Yea i'm sure they have been making these years before D & D came along. I just spent years playing that game, I still have a box full of these lead figurines, some men on horses but mostly Mosters :o

Here's my old horse. I bought him when I was a little girl in the 60's, spending my allowence on antiques! I still think he's awesome.
-
Wow !! That is another little one !! I just remember ours as a bit bigger than that !! Could memory be failing me in my old age ??
-
Without seeing it hands on it does appear as if made at a later date than yours talesof!
-
I think I have to agree with you Ironlord, when I put the two pictures side by side last night you can really see the age in my little guy and I'm not seeing it on the one with the rider. Mine is darkened and what were once clearly defined features are worn down a bit and the style is much more crude. Darn!

I think you all are right. I think it is a game piece, and i like tales horses too. Thanks for sharing ;D I don't think there is much value in it, but i do like it and glad i found it...Horses are my favorite animals!!

I looked at what old lead figures like my horse were going for on Ebay and it isn't much, just a few dollars. (still think they are cool!)
