Posting for a friend....

"Can anyone out there tell me any details about the potential style/value of these chairs? I believe they belonged to my great grandparents who were 2nd generation immigrants from Germany (born in 1875 & 1876 respectively). I'm unsure if they bought the chairs new or if they had been handed down to them."

Thank you for any help you can give!

Thank you so much for the information! I knew you guys could do it!  :D My friend was thrilled to finally have some information about it. She doesn't plan to sell it, but it was nice to hear it might be worth something.

Hello! A friend of mine has this old perfume bottle in a case that she says her grandfather brought back from France in the 1940's. Can anyone tell us more about it?

It is about 3 inches tall. You can see from the pictures that it is in a case that almost looks like a little coffin. The bottle is metal (silver?) and etched with a flower design. It has a hinged lid, and the stopper is still in it. The mark on the bottom looks like it says EBM or CBM with what looks like a lion maybe and a shield, an L and something else.

Any info would be appreciated! And yes, it still smells of whatever perfume it once held. :)

(I will put the rest of the attachments in the following post.)

Here are the front and back pics again.

I posted a report on the show in the Antiques Talk forum. :) As a reply to my original post. But long story short, I didn't get anything else appraised. I had something, but the Collectables line was way too long for it to be worth it. I already knew it wasn't of value. My brother took two guitars that were appraised a bit higher than he thought they would be...around $11.000 total.

Just an update...I went to the Antiques Roadshow today and took this framed photo. I knew it wasn't worth a lot, and I was right...$15! But I wanted to know more about it.

Appraiser Nick Dawes said it was made in America between 1890 and 1900 and probably originally held needlework, not a photo. I was surprised and please that it was that old! It's hanging back up on the wall now and I still love it even if it's not "valuable" moneywise. :)

Thank you for the replies! No, no badges to go with them. They are fully encased in the leather, however...can't even get them out to look at, which I thought was interesting.

And now I also am fully educated on the Louisville Sinking Fund. :)

Hi! I was wondering if anyone had any information about these two old taxi licenses. I just wondered if there is any appeal to collectors or if they would have any value. This is my grandfather and these are his licenses, front and back, from 1930 and 1931.

Thank you!

Thank you all for the info so far! I passed it along. She said her dad thought it was a blacksmith named Hatfield who lived in Owensburg, Indiana at the time. He did call it a squirrel gun as well.

She's going to see if there are any marks and send me pics. Thanks again!

Did it again. :( Sorry for the double post. It told me it didn't take the first time. I promise I'm not always this inept!

Hello! Posting for a friend trying to find information about this gun for her father. She was going to go to the Roadshow in St. Louis with me and bring it, but now she can't go. I thought maybe someone here could help.

She says it's an 1880's long gun made by a blacksmith named Hatfield. She says it's very heavy and about 5'6" long. Pictures below.

Thanks for any help! :)
