I have what I think is a pretty rare Napolion medallion. It measures about 1.75". On the front it read Napoleon I Emperor of France and King of Italy. On the back translates to Value and Victory. On the inside are fourteen round paper discs with battle scenes on them and the dates the battles took place. I translated what I could of the writing inside into english but I dont know where I my notebook is right now. I know Napoleon was famous for having medallions made but I haven't been able to find any like this one.

Wow... I think this one is going to need a hands on appraisal by an expert who has dealt with Napoleonic artifacts. VERY cool.

I agree with tales, this is awesome. It needs to be looked at in person by a specialist. They can determine the condition of the medallion and what purpose the little papers served. That is definitely hand laid (hand made) paper and not modern. If you would like to translate, you can use google translator.

This one is a bit smaller at 1 3/16 in. for $750. Evidently he had a lot of these commissioned !! Napolean really liked himself !!

I will find somewhere to take it to get appraised. Thanks everyone!
