I had so much great info on the last question I thought I would see what you all thought about this. My wife and I hit a non-pro estate sale seven or eight years ago in NJ. At that sale I purchased American antiques including Sandwich goblets.(authentic) A dough bowl on stand (early 19th century) A 19th century transitional dresser, some glass dating from the 20s-40s and these stems, plus too many other items to mention. It was a dream sale from a family that had been in the same area for many generations that you only hit once a year if you are lucky. There are six of these in two different sizes. They are so close you need to put them side by side to see a difference. They are pink and have grayish color stems and they are shiny glass with no seams. There are no pontil marks ground or rough. They are not marked. I have searched for something like them ever since and have come up blank. I emailed pictures to several glass "experts" and not one person replied. They are about six inches tall. The photo makes the stem look whiter than it really is. They are more like the color of clam broth. These have been like my greatest unsolved mystery. I was selling on ebay back then and these were the only things that were not sold as I was afraid to list them. Please help if you can. Thanks!

WOW! These are gorgeous! We have a couple of glass experts so it will be interesting to see the direction they point on this.

I tried hunting them down with no luck. Hope our glass experts can help. They are lovely. Look like tiny Martini glasses?

Are they frosted ?? Smooth, clear ??? What do they feel like ?? Need Wendy, KC and Ironlord on these !!

They have a Czechoslovakian look to me.

They are shiny and smooth. I though they might be Czech or Bohemian but they do not have that thin delicate feel and they are not ground flat on the rims. The blend from one color to the other indicates that they were made as one piece rather than the stems being applied separately.

How big/deep is the actual cup part of the glass. From my view it appears as if it is for a cordial.

4 are the size of a small martini glass, about 3 inches in diameter. The other 2 are only 1/4 inch smaller. I personally would make pink squirrels in them for the ladies and make the martini in a 5 inch clear glass for me. Ketel One with 3 olives of course.

I would suggest looking into dessert or sherry stemware.

frogpatch, sorry I can't help with the particular brand or ID for your glassware. But they are definitely the cordial/sherry styles used in the early 90's. So, google and let us know if you ever solve your mystery. I know this group...they will continue to do so as well. One day....someone will pop up with...I FOUND IT!

I hate do differ with you but there is not much chance that these were made in the early 90s. The newest item among the glass or anything at this estate sale was from the 1950s. There was not a new item in the place. The fact that there are only two of one and 4 of the other also tells me that there were more once. After doing this for over thirty years I have a feeling for whats newer and these in my opinion are probably from the classic era of cocktails 1940-1960. I was hoping to get a positive ID though.

I have all the time in the world. They are in storage in Clearwater FL with a truckload of stuff that I left when I escaped from there and returned to NJ. I have had them for 7 to 10 years just sitting in a china cabinet. I need to go back and get all the stuff and then we will have more fun. Thanks!

I agree with your date and think they are probably late 40`s early 50`s !! Sherry sets were popular then !! What color are the stems ?? Could not tell from the pics but they looked smoky gray colored !!

I believe your pieces were done by an artist named Dorothy Thorpe she was an artist who had a decorating studio in the Los Angeles area, from the 1930's and on into the 1950's she purchased glass from various companies, decorated it, and sold it. She also designed ceramics. I have a set of glasses done in light green with that clambroth color like yours but mine have green on bottom & clambroth on top. Mine also has her small stick on label still attached as this is how some pieces were marked.

Mart have owned my set for over 30 years & have searched to find others like them as I know who made them from the label and have come up empty all this time. She was a small artist who decorated and had some custom glass produced from diffrent factories She did beautiful work but many pieces were not mass produced. Her silver band pieces and sand etched pieces are more well known. Also (in case this caused confusion) the link Wendy posted had clear stems but she also pointed out that they weren't like yours... Just an example of her work.
I almost missed the different part so that's why I am pointing out....
