Can you give us some details ?? Is it solid, hollow, does it have holes anywhere ? What is it made of and where did you get it ?? Any info will help !!
-
If you notice down the center -- starting at the 'top' -- there are a series of holes. The center, all the way down, is hollow. Unfortunately, that's all I've got. ???

looks like some kind of water fountain to me
-
That is exactly what I think !! If there is a hole at the bottom of the reservoir water would be recirculated !! Or could have had a container that it sat in !!

For information for you to digest "There is a hole on the top left corner and it looked like painted ceramic. Didn't notice any brand names or marks."

Is it ceramic or metal? On the inside is there any oily residue?

Ceramic. Unsure re: inside.

The reason I was asking there were many different inventions/pieces made to "slow down" the flow of liquids/oils...like the spacing in the object you are displaying for purposes other than decorative.
Is there any smell to the interior/hollow area?

Well, shucks. Looks like the hunt stops here? Friend said he left it at the store. Doesn't recall a smell.
