Next to the painting from Reeves & Sons. (see other topic), I found another one in the attic. This one does have a signature, only I can't read it proparly. Anyone any idea? I'm from Holland, so probably a dutch artist.
Haven't got any clue about age also, so any information is welcome!

Can you read any of the letters in the last name ?? Looks like maybe A. Jannick or something similar !! Even the first letter of the last name will help !!
-
Should be an H or an M, for me it's something like 'Hennick'.

No-one?

No comment on the artist , as I have not knowledge of the sig , nor researched it , but I do believe that I may have stumbled across the obvious , regarding both paintings you've posted here .
By the general structure of the facial features of both paintings , I think these two might just be the same "R. Johnson" , at opposite ends of the age-scale .... his own personal 'portrait of dorian grey' as it were .
Serve me up a heaping plate of crow if I'm wrong !!!

Both paintings have another history ('not the same attic'), so to me it seems fairly impossible that it's the same artist/model. This painting is on wooden panel also...

That's good info to know ...
Please excuse my 'flight of fancy' !
Hee-Haw !!!

Not necessarily so,, if they even came from the same town there are local atists that may have done work for different families !! So where were the attics located mileage wise ??
-
At least 60 miles apart...

You can send the photos to Christies in New York and if they are done by someone notable they will tell you.

Old thread , & a comment which I originally thought might be rude to say , considering that the OP Wouwtert may be from around those parts ....
maybe there's a history of folks around there with a similar problem as illustrated below .... pertaining only to the sims. of the style/features of the young fellow & the old guy paintings , of course .... really .....

LOL !! Leave it to you Joe to find the good ones !!
