Title: What to call this table style? Pedestal?
Post by: Gary on January 15, 2012, 06:54:04 PM
I need some help describing this table, and information about this style if it has a name. It belonged to my wife's grandmother, or possibly great-grandmother, who bought it somewhere in Michigan in probably the mid 1900's, maybe earlier.

The top is veneered but has a glass insert covering and protecting it.

This looks similar to some I found when looking for the piecrust table on another thread !! It may have been made by Imperial Furniture Co. Grand Rapids, MI as well !! Is there a label under the table top ?? Or anything written ??

Thanks for the tip. No, no maker's mark or label anywhere. But at least you've given me a lead. Much appreciated!

I looked through what I could find on Imperial tables and do not think its theirs !!  I found many similar tables in the Eastlake style from the 20`s era !!  I do not think yours is that early !! I think it is likely late 30`s or 40`s !!  Many companies used elements from earlier styles and blended them with their own ideas as styles changed and people were looking for newer looks for the home !!  Finding the mfr is nearly impossible without a label because so many companies were making furniture at that time !! For your purpose I would call your table Eastlake style even if later production !!
