O.k. hopefully I can figure this out before the end to the day today was just givin this item to post here at goodwill, but kind of want to know the true title. First I thought Butter or cheese pate, but seem we have a small debate, so before I post this does anyone know what this is really called.

Hasn`t been too long since we had one similar posted here !! If I remember correctly its a Victorian butter server !! The knife would have rested on the holder !! Should have a glass liner or could be metal but glass was the usual !! A cheese server would be flat on the bottom with a round cover !!

Thanks that what I thought I remember about this, but there was a debate because of the round bottom, many thought it was to serve some sort of pate', Looks like I'm winning this one so far. Thanks mart.

Wow, that is really beautiful.

Yepper....that is what it is! Was also used for caviar for the well-to-do because they had glass liners!

Would certainly work well for either of those Pate` or Caviar !! It just would not work for cheese unless it was cheese dip !! Mmmm,, now I need chips !!

Well I did get it posted at the end of the day and had a bid within minutes, this one will be fun to watch. Thanks for all the help.
