Title: Anyone know who made this dish and what it is for?

Its about 9 or 10 inches long and about 5 inches wide. Looks like it has crossed swords.

Early 'Mid-Century Modern' item made by the company of Dümler & Breiden from the town of Höhr (in the Rhineland-Palatinate area of Germany). Intended as small fruit bowl - my parents had one like that and it contained everything from a pack of matches up to car keys as it was placed in the hallway :)
