Title: Bakelite?
Post by: Maineiac on February 19, 2012, 01:15:02 PM
My wife has a jewelry box that was passed down from her grandmother. In this box we found this necklace and I was wondering if anybody was familiar with design.  I have found similar pieces online, but can't seem to find any in this color or with the gold pieces between beads. Any help would be appreciated!

Could you please post photos of the clasp.  Is this piece heavy or light? I do not believe it is Bakelite not a color that was done but the best way to tell is to test with a white cloth place a dab of simichrome polish (it is pink in color) the on the cloth & rub on bead if the simichrome paste stays pink it is NOT bakelite if it turns a ugly yellow color on the cloth it is  bakelite. Are the beads cold to the touch??
