This beverage holder is 11" tall, has a glass bottom and an ornate metal top (the spout looks to be some animal head) which may have been silver plated, but most of the silver has worn off the exterior. What type of beverage would this most likely have held? Any idea as to it's age or who may have manufactured it?

This was a silverplated claret jug/pitcher or water pitcher. The silverplate has worn off.
They typically had an insert for ice if it was used for wine (so as not to dilute the vintage).
Here's another example of one.

Are there any markings on it?
Most likely not worth re-plating if it is newer.
