what the heck is it?!!!! Carnival Glass?...Looks hand blown?. I know its a dish of some sort it has felt feet on the bottom..Its iridescent funky shape
-
Can you post pictures of the side view & bottom ?
-
And approx size !!
-
sure thing
-
Fenton did a lot of free form candy dishes ect !! You didn`t say how big yours was ?? A candy dish would be 8 or 9 inches or so !!
-
Not a candy dish way too big its 16" by 13 1/2 inches at its longest parts
-
Then that would be more of a fruit bowl,,centerpiece type !!
-
It is a decorative piece...they made many freeform styles and enlarged pattern styles for coffee tables and centerpieces!
-
Do you think Fenton KC ??

This piece is what is called a whimsey piece, Very skilled glassmakers of the carnival era produced these odd fancies at many factories that weren't part of regular production, sometimes on the sly to sneak home to give to a loved one, some whimsey shapes gained such popularity they were soon put into production, other pieces bordered on the grotesque in their shaping and still seem strange to us today, these pieces are one of a kind!!! Very nice piece

There`s our glass lady,, back in action !! Hi Wendy !!
-
Hi mart !! ;)
-
thanks wendy, but could you explain further why does the bottom almost look spary painted? and if I where to sell it would I put under "whimsey carnival glass" and if so what year do you think
-
As far as year I could not even guess carnival glass was produced between 1905 to 1930 , the very name carnival glass signifies the coating or overspray which appears to be as oil spreading over water. This was achieved by mixing various metallic elements, (some of which are not permitted by today's manufacturers). It is the overspray (liquid metallic salts) which creates the carnival appearance. Photos are not like a hands on inspection. Yes to sell this piece I would put it under whimsey carnival glass. But you should research to see if you can find a piece similar in pattern not shape this may help with manufacturer.

You said the bottom looks almost like sppray paint ?? I have seen a few pieces, although I cannot remember the maker, that the bottom was more matte than the rest !! It did not have that sheen that is on the rest of it !! Is this what you mean ?? More opaque ??
-
I have seen them where the bottom is more like a solid color so that the top side showed the carnival appearance in a much more distinct way! Can't remember who did that tho'!
-
bottom more opaque mart, and wendy believe me I've done research I have seen nothing like this. But it is getting some bids on ebay.. I put it up before I talked to u guys at 2.99 because I thought it was junk anyways there is 4 days left we will see what happens, wendy if you like it its under carnival glass platter go bid on it please :)...
