You've got some neat wood blocks for printing! You put ink on the surface of the characters, print it onto a piece of paper and then I can ask the people I know who speak Japanese and Chinese what it says.
-
I should add that it may also be Korean. I have a friend who speaks that as well. I would not expect a word-for-word translation, since I would be asking for a favor, but we could get the general idea about it. Here's an example of how a woodblock print looks on paper: (http://www.jnorman.com/hss/images/items//39844.jpg) I'm looking for some info on what the blocks sell for...

Here is someone's blog who made a wood block print image and spent an entire year working on it.

Here is a lot of six very similar wooden Chinese printing blocks. The auction estimate is $390 - $780 USD.

That should give you a good idea of the value without having to print and translate.

thanks for the info... guess 20 bucks for each is a great price... now to only find out which language they are?
-
For anyone that speaks the language should be able to tell the dialect/region from the print block I would think !! There are several dialects spoken there !!
-
Will send it to my Korean friend...
-
Just got a reply...this is Chinese...and it is a printing block! Friend says in large cities are great decorator items!!!
-
Can you tell me the cost?
-
Is it wood? What material?
-
