Hi!
I just happened across your forum. My father antiques all the time and came across this old photo at an antique shop. He feels it's someone famous, but unsure. It's a circa 1850's daguerreotype photo.
Anyone have any ideas as to who this could be?

He is interesting looking but doesn`t ring a bell !! Pic has such a glare that I can`t see the clothing style !!

I know, it's difficult to see. I'll find out if he can get a better one. Reminds me of Brigham Young a bit... but then again so many men had that hairstyle/beard back then.

Thats me. Just kidding. He does look a little familiar.

It almost looks like President Andrew Johnson, but I'm not aware if he ever had those fine sideburns.

That's who it reminded me of.

General E Grant perhaps?

Not Andrew Johnson.
Forgive my ignorance but by General E Grant, who are you referring to? (I know, probably a really stupid question....).
