Title: Sprague Carleton Antique Bench - Valuable?
Post by: runner83 on April 02, 2012, 03:20:10 PM
I have an antique Sprague Carleton bench (made in New Hampshire) that I'm looking to sell.  We have had it since the 1980's, the neighbor we acquired it from had it for years, so it appears to be an antique.  It's in good condition showing only minor wear.  What would the value of this item be? Is it anything special?

Thank you

Hello - Yes the surface is uneven.  Here is a picture without the cushion. Don't mind the dust  :)

Ira Sprague founded the company around 1900,, 1930 name changed to Sprague Carlton and they continued making Early American furniture till late 60`s !! Name changed again to Triumph Industries and I think they are still in business.  Its not particularly rare as benches go and I am thinking yours was most likely made late 50`s or 60`!! So while not antique,, you might say its vintage as some do !! If you sell it just use "Sprague Carlton comb back bench"  as for value,, if you are lucky,, $100. to $125. !! I looked at some of their prices and are about the same as any good used furniture !!
