Hi there. Can anyone help me identify just what I have here. I have a series of sized flasks made from a ferous metal, and stoppered with wooden bungs. They are clearly hand made, and not very prettily so they are made for a function rather than to look at. The wooden bungs in my opinion are quite old. The smaller ones have a brass ferule on the neck. See Picture. Hope someone has somew idea what they are.

Hm...The only similar thing I can find is this
http://www.etsy.com/listing/75571016/handmade-primitive-rustic-metal-flask?ref=sr_gallery_7&ga_includes%5B%5D=tags&ga_search_query=metal+flask&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery
but there's not really any information there. Just a similar piece labeled as "primitive rustic metal flask bottle" which is less than helpful. Couldn't find anything else that was shaped like yours though.
I thought maybe a gun powder flask or something since it's plain, but I couldn't find anything there either.

I'd guess powder or shot (lead) containers .
