Title: Possibly Buddhist Chinese tablet
Post by: guardsmantimmy on June 28, 2012, 10:14:14 PM
Picked this bad boy up today at Southern Picker in Darien, GA.  The fellow said that it's Chinese and I believe he referred to it as (an) 'inkstone'  or 'inkblock' and it's cracked into about 7 pieces, but all of them are there.  Anyway, I'm pretty sure the front depicts a/the Buddha, though it seems more in the fashion of an Indian Buddha and not the fat, laughing Buddha that the Chinese generally portray him as.  All of the characters on the back are carved out including the tiny ones.  Any information on what it depicts, when and where it's from, and what it says on the back would be greatly appreciated.
